Chart Of The Day: 28% of Indonesian internet users access the web exclusively via mobile

In 2014 GlobalWebIndex will extend its survey coverage to mobile-only internet users, becoming the first globally syndicated study to cover this segment. As part our assessment process, we instigated a pilot study interviewing 2,000 mobile internet users in China, Indonesia, USA and Vietnam directly on their mobile device, putting hard numbers behind a much talked about trend. The key goal of this was to establish the size of the mobile internet universe, assess its importance and quantify the composition ahead of next year’s launch. The clear insight was the large variance in the proportion of mobile-only users, ranging from 28% in Indonesia, to 5% in the USA. What is also evident is that the multi-platform user still dominates, with the majority of users still accessing the web via PC in all markets.
