Apple's Mac turns 30, with penetration highest in Australia, the US and Canada

Hi there

30 years ago today, Apple sold its very first Mac. But if we fast forward by three decades to look at its current adoption across different markets, a pretty uneven picture emerges.

At a global level, just 4% of internet users say that the computer they own or use the most is a Mac (as a comparison, 49% are regular Windows 7 users).

At a local level, though, Macs can enjoy much greater penetration – with Australia leading the way at 12%. Following closely behind are the US (11%) as well as Canada, Singapore and Sweden (all 10% each). At the other end of the spectrum, usage rates reach their lowest point in many emerging internet markets.
